"...Why is it important to know your temperament type?

The last thing you want - in the demanding work environments of the knowledge age - is to be stuck in a role that is not suited to your temperament.

It’s like using a tool for something that it’s not designed for. Have you ever tried to use a knife when you couldn’t find a screwdriver?

Firstly, it doesn’t do a very good job, and secondly it ends up ruining the knife.

People are similar. When they do what they are not designed to do, they don’t perform very well and eventually they break. For example, someone who likes to work by themselves, and to a schedule, will find it very stressful working with others in a disorganized environment.

That’s why an understanding or your temperment type is another crucial pre-requisite to understanding your Authentic Direction.

KEY ASPECTS OF THE IITS TEMPERAMENT

Potential strengths:desire for mastery, highly creative and innovative, an ideas machine. Likes to come to decisions and achieve closure.

Potential limitations:can be dogmatic and can be insensitive to others who take longer to make up their minds.

What does the fact that you are an “IITS” mean for your career?

You tend to be a reflective and thoughtful person, rather than wanting highly charged activity with others, or high power events and activities. It is important for you to try and understand situations before charging into things.

Your preference is for social interaction on a small scale: one on one or small groups.

You prefer work that lets you create and develop original and innovative solutions to problems.

You are able to focus your energy on the implementation of the ideas you develop, working in a objective, logical and orderly way.

You like to be exposed to a steady stream of new information, providing you with ways to increase your proficiency and competence.

You seek a high degree of autonomy and control with the freedom to effect change in the way you carry out your tasks.

You are good at looking for new and innovative opportunities to further your career.

You may be less interested in projects after creative problem solving is completed. Your independent disposition may mean that in a conventional organization you would need to occupy a management or leadership position.

Your major interests and concerns are to understand, master and explain the world you inhabit.

You will often use this understanding to bring about a change or innovation, even though you may not carry out the transformation, leaving that to more practically minded
people, while you look at the next set of interesting ideas.

You adopt an objective and logical approach to life and work and you can sometimes be impatient with mundane things that interest more practically minded people.

You find it relatively easy to see the logical implications of your ideas and the possibilities and potential lying in the future.

You are an ideas generating machine.

The strongest feature of your temperament is the desire for understanding and mastery over the things that you do.

You bring a logical and systematic approach to problem solving and you are not content with superficial solutions that gloss over the difficulties.

You are able to work on your own and you are resourceful.

You can, however, sometimes be insensitive to the feelings and concerns of others in the pursuit of your objectives."
