"...Your Life's Purpose

The first part of your ADS is your Life's Purpose. The good news is that your Life's Purpose already exists within you. If you are not consciously aware of your Life's Purpose, this means that it is currently embedded within your subconscious mind. All you need is a process to draw it out - and this is exactly what this book provides you with.

What exactly do we mean by "Life's Purpose"? Before we talk about what Life's Purpose means, we want to make clear what it doesn't mean. When we talk about Life's Purpose we are not talking about the meaning of life in general. That is a far more thorny issue which we are happy to leave to the theologians.

What we are talking about is much more down-to-earth, practical and specific to your individual situation. Other names for Life's Purpose that are often used include "vocation", "calling", "mission" and "true-self".

Essentially, your Life's Purpose is your reason for being. You are born with it. Discovering your Life's Purpose is not so much a process of creation, but of uncovering what is already there.

Dr Parker Palmer, a well known author and speaker on issues of education, leadership, spirituality and career development describes it very well:

"Purpose includes but is not limited to your values, talents and passions. It is the spiritual core that helps you find aliveness in your day-to-day experiences. Discovering vocation does not mean scrambling toward some prize just beyond your reach, but accepting the treasure of true self you already possess. Vocation does not come from a voice 'out there' calling me to become something I am not. It comes from a voice 'in here' calling me to be the person I was born to be, to fulfill the original selfhood given me at birth."

Does that make sense to you? Hopefully it does, because on our website where you purchased this book we asked you the question: do you believe there is a purpose within you waiting to be discovered? We also suggested that if the answer was no, then there was little point in purchasing the book. After all it is almost impossible to discover something if you believe it doesn't exist.
